Importing through the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach

The Port of Los Angeles and the Port of Long Beach sit side by side on San Pedro Bay, and together they are the busiest container gateway in the United States. They are the West Coast gateway on our China, Vietnam, Thailand and India lanes.

From the terminal a container goes one of three ways. It can be trucked to a warehouse in the Los Angeles basin or the Inland Empire (Ontario, Fontana, Riverside, San Bernardino); taken to a transload warehouse, where the cargo is reloaded into 53-foot domestic trailers for the rest of the country; or put on rail, either on-dock at the terminal or through the Alameda Corridor to the rail yards near downtown Los Angeles. We choose the route with you before the ship arrives, so the free time at the terminal is not spent deciding.

Our office is in Westlake Village, northwest of Los Angeles, not at the port. It runs the shipment file: the booking at origin, the ISF, the customs entry filed by a licensed customs broker, the terminal appointment and the delivery. Trucking is done by contracted motor carriers and warehouse work by partner warehouses, because Airlift USA owns neither trucks nor warehouses.

What the Los Angeles office arranges

What the Los Angeles office handles

Los Angeles is one of Airlift USA's offices in the United States. It coordinates the US end of the China to USA, Vietnam to USA, Thailand to USA and India to USA lanes: US customs entries and Importer Security Filings (ISF) through our licensed customs-broker network, drayage from Los Angeles and Long Beach, and onward trucking and delivery.

Airlift USA is an FMC-licensed NVOCC and ocean freight forwarder, not a customs broker. Entries on cargo we move are filed through our broker network.
