Using 2809 on entry documents
Port code 2809 identifies San Francisco, CA as the port of entry on CBP Form 7501, the entry summary a broker files for every formal entry. The same four digits identify the port in ACE entry filings, in AMS manifest data and in the Importer Security Filing (ISF), which must be on file before ocean cargo loads for the United States.
The first two digits are the customs district: 2809 belongs to district 28, and every port of entry in that district starts with the same two digits.
The code is for customs, not carriers. Carriers, forwarders and NVOCCs book and manifest against the UN/LOCODE for the place, and the bill of lading shows that five-character code, not the Schedule D code. For San Francisco, CA that UN/LOCODE is USSFO; give the broker 2809 and the carrier the UN/LOCODE.
CBP adds and retires codes as ports of entry open, merge or close, so confirm 2809 against the current CBP publication before filing. Airlift USA does not hold a U.S. customs broker license; entries on cargo we move are filed through our licensed broker network.
