Importing through the Port of New York and New Jersey

The Port of New York and New Jersey is the largest container port on the US East Coast. Most of its containers move through the terminals at Port Newark and Elizabeth, in New Jersey; the others are in Bayonne, on Staten Island and at Red Hook in Brooklyn. It is the East Coast gateway on our India, Bangladesh, Belgium and Italy lanes.

Out of the port, a container is trucked to a warehouse in New Jersey, New York City, Long Island, Pennsylvania or further into the Northeast; delivered to a transload warehouse, where the cargo moves into domestic trailers; or loaded onto rail at ExpressRail, the Port Authority's on- and near-dock rail system, for inland points. Heavy cargo such as stone and tile is weight-checked before the container is booked, so the truck, the chassis and any overweight permit can be planned.

The New Jersey office sits in North Brunswick, on the central New Jersey warehouse corridor, a drive down the New Jersey Turnpike from Port Newark. It keeps the shipment file from origin booking to delivery: the ISF, the entry filed by a licensed customs broker, the terminal appointment and the truck. Contracted motor carriers pull the containers and partner warehouses do the transloading; Airlift USA has no trucks or warehouses of its own.

What the New Jersey office arranges

What the New Jersey office handles

New Jersey is one of Airlift USA's offices in the United States. It coordinates the US end of the India to USA, Bangladesh to USA, Belgium to USA and Italy to USA lanes: US customs entries and Importer Security Filings (ISF) through our licensed customs-broker network, drayage from New York, Newark and John F. Kennedy Airport, New York, and onward trucking and delivery.

Airlift USA is an FMC-licensed NVOCC and ocean freight forwarder, not a customs broker. Entries on cargo we move are filed through our broker network.
